SOME INDEX OF INTELLECTUAL CAPACITY OF SECONDARY SCHOOL PUPILS IN UONG BI CITY, QUANG NINH PROVINCE

Abstract

This study was designed as cross-sectional on 492 pupils from 11-14 years old in Trung Vuong Secondary School, Uong Bi City, Quang Ninh province. The research included IQ and short-term memory of pupils. It was shown that intelligence quotient (IQ) and visual short-term memory of students in the study group increased from 11 to 14 years old. The IQ was the lowest at 11 (99.92 points of male and 98.82 of female) is the highest at 14 (102.86 points of male and 101.73 points of female). There was no difference in the development of intellectual capacity between two sexes. Distribution of pupils according to intellectual capacity in term and there was not pupils wisdom of stupid. The majority of students had intellect in intelligence level (level III) and average level (level IV). The percentage of students had the highest average of IQ.


The number of students with excellent levels of intelligence (level I) and excellent (level II) accounts for a small percentage. Visual short-term memory of the students increased with the age of 11-14 (from 6.01+6.05 points to 7.03+7.11 points) with uneven speed among the years, there was no difference in intellectual capacity by gender. The correlation between IQ and short-term visual memory was a linear and relatively correlation with the R oscillates from 6.30 – 6.34 and p<0.01. The linear correlation between IQ and visual short-term memory of the male students was Y₁ = 0,101 IQ -36.57 and its female students was Y₂ = 0,097 IQ -3,443.
