BONE MINERALIZATION DEVELOPMENT IN MEDAKA (ORYZIAS LATIPES) II

Abstract
We have studied chronological bone mineralization development in
medaka fish from 15 days to 2 months of age. In the part I paper published in the Vietnam
Journal of Physiology Vol.19 No.3 we reported results obtained from the fish of 1 to 10
days of age. This paper describes and analyzes the bone mineralization development of
the fish from 15 days to 2 months of age. Hallmarks for bone mineralization during this
period are futher development of head skeletal bone structures and the formation of first
cranial bone structures; the formation of neural and hemal canals by fusing of paired
neural arches and of paired hemal arches of each vertebra, respectively; and the
mineralization of fins in chronological order including pectoral fins, anal fins, and dorsal
fins.
