CHARACTERISTICS OF NYSTAGMUS RELATED TO VESTIBULAR-OCULAR REFLEX IN SUBJECTS AFTER COVID-19 INFECTION

Abstract

Objective: To describe the results of optic nerve function (VNG) tests in young people after COVID-19 infection and compare them with a group of people who had never been infected with COVID-19. Subjects: 92 volunteers including people who have ever had COVID-19 and those who have not been infected with COVID-19 were identified in outbreaks by PCR or antigen rapid test samples at least 3 times. Methods: Cross-sectional, prospective description. Results: The rate of experiencing dizziness during the COVID-19 period was 66.7%. Expression of dizziness after COVID-19 was 2.8%. VNG tests (gaze center, gaze horizontal, gaze vertical, VVOR vertical, VVOR horizontal, VORS vertical, VORS horizontal, skew deviation, saccade peak velocity, saccade accuracy, and saccade latency) did not show statistically significant differences between the group of patients who had previously been infected with COVID-19 and the group who had not. Conclusion: Symptoms of dizziness appear with a high rate during the period of COVID-19 infection. Symptoms of dizziness after COVID-19 infection are very rare in young people. No differences were detected in VNG-lens oculomotor examination results between the group of patients who had previously been infected with COVID-19 and the group who had not.
