Abstract

Objectives: The study assessed the effects of yoga on blood pressure and indicators related to hypertension. Subjects and methods: The study was conducted on 25 patients with stage 1 of hypertension. Results: After 12 weeks of yoga practice, systolic blood pressure reduced 12.4 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure reduced 6.2 mmHg. Waist circumference and the layer of fat under the skin reduced significantly. Cholesterol and triglycerides decreased; HDL-C and LDL-C also changed, but not significantly.
