THE CORRELATION BETWEEN PERIPHERAL NERVE CONDUCTION STUDY AND LEVEL OF URINARY ALBUMIN EXCRETION IN DIABETIC PATIENTS

Abstract
Objective: The primary aim was to evaluate the relation between neuropathy and diabetic nephropathy. Methods: Cross-sectional study in 37 patients. UAE level based on ACR ratio. NCSs performed with EMG equipment. Results: Significant negative correlation between level of UAE and action potential (AP), and nerve conduction velocity (NCV) of motor nerves (p < 0.05). Significant negative correlation between UAE and NCV of sensory nerves, and significant positive correlation with DSL (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Presence of microvascular diabetic complications are simultaneous, and the earliest presence is the DPN, especially abnormal NCS parameters.
