Abstract

Objective: To assess the effect of electro-acupuncture using the long needle on low back painpatients. Methods: 100 patients with low back pain were devided into 2 groups: The research group included 50 patients treated with electro-acupuncture using the long needle, the control group included 50 patients treated with with electro-acupuncture using the short needle. Results and conclution: effect of electro-acupuncture using long needle on pain and threshold of pain feeling as follow: Reduce the average point in scale VAS, increases the threshold of pain feeling after 7 days of treatment. Results of the measurement of skin temperature and perfusion of muscleusing laser Doppler flowmetry (LDF) by Powerlab system (Firm A/D Instrument, Australia) showed that electro-acupuncture using long needle reduced the spasms of muscle, increased the transport of blood cells through capillaries.
