Abstract

Object: to analyze correlations between some parameters of EMG recordings in the braches of peripheral facial nerve and imaging analysis in motions of facial muscles in patients with peripheral facial nerve falsy. Methods: EMG recordings and imaging analysis were analyzed in 30 patients with peripheral facial nerve falsy treated at Department of Neurology, Military Hospital 103. Results: distances from the center line of the forehead muscles correlated positively to amplitudes of the first branch while distance of orbicularis oculi correlated negatively to amplitudes of the second branch of peripheral facial nerve. Conclusion: Results indicate that there is a strong correlation between image analysis and EMG recordings in patients with peripheral facial nerve falsy.
