CHANGES OF EMG SIGNALS AFTER PERFORMED ACUPUNTURE TREATMENTS IN CERVICAL SPINE PATIENTS

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate changes of EMG Signal following acupuncture treatments in cervical spine patients. Methods: 60 cervical spine patients were treated by acupuncture. Values of EMG signal after treatments were compared to theses before treatments. Results: After treatments, there were significant decreases in mean baseline (from 1,12 ± 0,17 to 1,06 ± 0,16 mV) and time-to-peak (from 172,51 ± 24,22 to 162,19 ± 22,64 ms) of sEMG activities. In contrast, there were significant increases in mean peak (from 2,55 ± 0,29 to 2,66 ± 0,35 mV) and mean peak area (from 0,89 ± 0,20 to 1,0 ± 0,17 mVs) of sEMG activities. Conclusion: Acupuncture treatments induced changes of sEMG characters in cervical spine patients.
