Abstract

Objectives: (1) Determine the MTHFR C677T polymorphism rate in diabetes patients typ 2; (2) Affect of the MTHFR C677T genotype to some symtoms and investigation in diabetic patients typ 2. Methods: cross-sectional study on 120 diabetic patients typ 2 at the Saint Paul General Hospital. All patients were examined clinical symptoms, investigated and collected blood to determine the MTHFR C677T polymorphism. Results: Research results showed that 33.3% had the 677CT gene, 0.83% had the 677TT gene; The average age of patients with 677TT and 677TT were 63.17 ± 12.17. They had higher triglyceride concentration (2.11 ± 1.46 mmol/l) and higher HbA1c ratio (7.97 ± 2.04%). Those with the 677CC gene (age: 66.35 ± 8.83, triglyceride: 1.9 ± 0.85 mmol/l, HbA1c: 7.57 ± 1.74%) were statistically different (p <0.05); No correlation was found between the MTHFR C677T gene with glycemic control, blood fat concentration, blood pressure and eGFR level. Conclusion: the rate of MTHFR C677T polymorphism was 33.33%. No correlation was found between the MTHFR C677T gene with glycemic control, blood fat concentration, blood pressure and eGFR level, but the ralation with triglycerid concentration and HbA1C ratio has determined.
