Abstract

Effects of dioxin on human health is an urgent public concern. This study targeted on populations living around two dioxin-contaminated airbases: Da Nang and Bien Hoa. In 2014, total 405 subjects with an age range of 20-50 year old were recruited. All subjects were interviewed for basic information, and received health examinations and blood tests. Results suggested that dioxin exposure causes advert health effects indicating by abnormalities in blood tests and disease profile. A rate of 17.5% had a low hemoglobin, 66.4% had a SGOT increase and 38.7% had a SGPT increase. The most common diseases were peripheral nerves disease and gastric/duodenal ulcers with a rate of 7.7% and 6.4%, respectively.
