Abstract

This study was carried out assess occupational stress among health
care workers (HCWs) in HIV/AIDS control center. This study was carried out among 45
HCWs. Their some psycho-physiologycal indices (heart rate, simple reaction time, critical
flicker frequency (CFF) and short-term memory test) were measured at before and after
workshift. The results showed that: 45 HCWs with 36.2±9.1 years of age and 11.7±8.9
working years. Occupational stress is one of the issues that need attention in HCWs. The
rate of high stress score in HCWs was 22.2%; The average stress score was 66.7% and
a low stress score is 11.1%. After workshift, increased heart rate (83.0±28 beats/min in
comparison with 79.0±3.6 beats/min) (p<0.001); prolonged simple reaction time
(377±89ms in comparison with 308±59ms) (p<0.001); reduced CFF (36.7±1.7Hz in
comparison with 33.3±5.5Hz) (p<0.001) manifested workload of HCWs. Short-term
memory in HCWs was not changed.
