Respiratory function tests plays an important role in the assessment
examination lung ventilation function, contributing to diagnose and assess treatment
outcomes of pulmonary diseases. There are many methods of exploration respiratory
function, plethysmography is a accurate, modern method, that provide many respiratory
reliability and high accuracy indices. Our study was performed to measure the respiratory
indices consists of RV, TLC, RV/TLC by using plethymography method on 155 people
aged between 19 -70 years be divided into 5 groups age (19 -29 , 30 -39 , 40 -49 , 50 -59
and 60 -70). The results showed that the RV; RV / TLC increases with age in both sexes,
males tend to be higher in women in most age groups (p > 0.05); TLC diminishes with age
in both sexes, males than females in all age groups (p < 0.05). RV, RV / TLC correlated
significantly with age (p < 0.01). Height correlated with RV, TLC significantly (p < 0.01).
Weight correlated with RV, TLC, RV / TLC significantly (p < 0.01). RV, TLC correlated
significantly with BMI; RV / TLC did not correlate with BMI.
