Abstract
Objectives: To determine the occurrence rate of H.pylori strains expressing CagA and VacA toxin in cases of carrying cagA and vacA genes in patients with chronic gastritis.
Methods: cross-sectional descriptive study was analyzed on patients with H.pylori-infected chronic gastritis at 103 Military Hospital and Military Hospital 105 from 5/2018 - 12/2018.
Results: 150 patients enrolled in the study with an average age of 50.5 years, the male / female ratio was 1.68: 1. There were 89.34% of cases carrying cagA gene and 100% carrying vacA gene, but the rate of toxin was respectively only 66% and 83.33%. The proportion of patients with both CagA and VacA toxin is 60.67%, without both toxins is 10.66%, the rest is 1 in 2 toxins. The rate of CagA toxin in Hp infected cases carrying cagA gene is 74.63%, and VacA toxin birth rate in H.pylori infected cases carrying vacA gene is 83.33%.
Conclusion: detection of cagA and vacA genes is not sufficient to identify H.pylori bacteria of pathogenic strains, but it is necessary to detect CagA and VacA phenotypes. The proportion of patients with H.pylori-infected gastritis who actually need eradication treatment is 60.67%.
