CHANGES IN LEUKOCYTE IN EXPERIMENTAL ACUTE DECOMPRESSION SICKNESS

Abstract

Objective: determining the changes in leukocyte in experimental decompression sickness according to the time. Methods: subjects are 49 rabbits, experimental method, observating the indexes at pre and 30 mins post experiment, pre and 30 mins post treatment. Experimental decompression sickness were caused by simulative diving in the hyperbaric tank. Results: in the acute stage, leukocyte count increased (from 7,66 ± 2,65G/L to 9,46 ± 3,30G/L, p<0,01), the lympho percent has tendency to decrease and neutral percent has tendency to increase (p>0,05). Leukocyte count increased highly in severe subgroup (p<0,01). In the sub acute stage, leukocyte count increased, lympho percent was up and neutral percent was down at 48h post experiment (p<0,05). Post recompression treatment: leukocyte count was up (from 8.65 ± 2,46 G/L to 10,81 ± 4,17 G/L, p<0,05), neutral percent increased, lympho percent decreased, leukocyte changes were not recovered. Conclusion: leukocyte count raised in experimental decompression sickness up to 48h post experiment and leukocyte changes were not recovered by recompression treatment at 30 mins post treatment.
