THROMBOSIS IN MULTIPLE MYELOMA: REPORTING SOME CASES STUDY

Abstract

Thrombosis is a common complication in malignancies and multiple myeloma, one of the
leading causes of death and increased burden of disease in patients with multiple myelomа. Objective: Investigating the factors are associated with the risk of thrombosis in multiple myeloma patients. Subjects: Reporting 4 cases study thrombosis in multiple myeloma patients
were treated VTD regimen in H5 department - National Institute of Hematology and Blood
Transfusion. Methods: Cross-sectinal study, follow up. Results: All 4 patients had pretreatment hypercoagulation, 2/4 patients progressed to venous thromboembolism, 1/4 patient had cerebral infarction after 2-3 cycles of VTD, 1 patient with venous thromboembolism appeared before treatment. Conclusions: Hypercoagulation in multiple myeloma increases the risk of thrombosis, especially with combination of immunomodulatory drugs and dexamethasone.
