Abstract

Objective: Evaluating the protein concentration in cerebro spinal fluid (CSF) in patients with Guillain - Barré syndrome. Methods: a total of 44 patients with Guillain - Barré syndrome, diagnosed according to criteria of Asbury and Cornblath in 1990, the time duration from onset to study enrollment was ≤ 15 days, all patients agreed to participate in the research. Results: total of 56.8% of patients had increased CSF protein. CSF elevation was statistically significantly higher in men, age group ≥ 50 years old, testing time > 1 week, and myelin destruction group. Conclusion: Testing of cerebrospinal fluid in 44 patients with Guillain - Barré syndrome showed that 56.8% of patients had increased CSF protein. Increased cerebrospinal fluid protein was associated with men, age group ≥ 50 years old, test time > 1 week, and myelin destruction group.
