Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effects of Kien Luc tablets on liver and kidney functions in experimental animals following repeated usage. Methods: Healthy Wistar rats were given Kien Luc at doses of 1.8 tablets/kg/day and 5.4 tablets/kg/day for 8 consecutive weeks. Blood samples were analyzed for biochemical parameters before treatment, after four-week, and eight-week treatment. Liver and kidney tissue samples were isolated at the end of the study for histopathological analysis. Results: Data showed that Kien Luc tablets at both tested doses did not lead to significant changes in biochemical parameters to evaluate liver (AST, ALT, albumin, total cholesterol, total bilirubin) and kidney (creatinine) functions in rats. Conclusion: The results of this study have shown that the administration of Kien Luc did not cause harmful effects on the biochemical parameters of the liver and kidneys at the tested doses.
