Abstract

Objective: To investigate the clinical characteristics and RPR, TPHA test results of male patients with syphilis. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study with analysis was conducted on 43 male patients diagnosed with syphilis at Can Tho Dermato-venereology hospital. Results: The majority of patients were aged 18-35 years (76.7%), single (81.4%), and had a high school level of education (60.5%). Secondary syphilis accounted for 60.5% of cases, while 46.5% of patients had no mucocutaneous lesions and 30.2% presented with macular syphilitic rash. Anal intercourse was reported by 79.1% of patients, and 65.1% did not use condoms. HIV co-infection was identified in 14.0% of cases. An RPR titer of 1/32 was observed in 23.3% of patients, whereas a TPHA titer of 1/1280 was found in 67.4%. Conclusion: Male patients with syphilis were predominantly aged 18-35 years, single, and had a high school education level. Most cases were diagnosed as secondary syphilis, commonly presenting with macular rash and high-risk sexual behaviors (anal intercourse, inconsistent condom use, and multiple sexual partners). Serological testing showed relatively high RPR and TPHA titers
