Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the treatment outcomes of dental crowding using the Damon Ultima bracket system in non-extraction orthodontic patients. Materials and Methods: This non-controlled clinical interventional study was conducted on 30 patients with dental crowding who received orthodontic treatment at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital. Results: The alignment duration in the maxillary arch was longer than that in the mandibular arch, and the alignment rate was highest during T1, decreased at T2, and slightly increased at T3 (p< 0.05). Little’s Irregularity Index (LII) significantly decreased after treatment in both arches (p< 0.001). Maxillary and mandibular intercanine and intermolar widths significantly increased after treatment (p< 0.001), with intermolar width expansion greater than intercanine width expansion in both arches. Maxillary incisor inclination increased from 111.26 ± 1.84° to 116.02 ± 2.13° after treatment (p< 0.001). Labial and palatal alveolar bone thicknesses showed a slight but clinically acceptable reduction around the maxillary central and lateral incisors, with the greatest reduction observed at the crestal level and the smallest at the apical level (p< 0.05). No severe alveolar bone defects or periodontal complications were observed. Conclusion: The Damon Ultima system demonstrated favorable treatment outcomes in managing mild to moderate dental crowding in non-extraction patients, particularly during the leveling and alignment stage.
